Welcome to the website of Dr. Frederick Watkins. There are a few things I would like to say about myself and my practice for those who are interested. I am a board-certified (ABPS) plastic surgeon specializing in cosmetic plastic surgery. I also do reconstructive surgery most often for injuries to the face, hand, and body. It is very important to me to work closely with each patient in order to develop an individualized treatment plan. After all, most plastic surgery is “custom” work. The consultation is an informative process in which you should come away with a solid understanding of not just how I will help you achieve your goals, but also why certain approaches may be better than others. I hope the consultation gives you more confidence about the decision to undergo surgery.
To me, plastic surgery is a marriage of artistry and engineering, and the operator needs to have a strong foundation in each. My primary goal is to help you achieve a natural post-surgical look, using techniques that are proven, effective, and minimize risk. Patients who undergo plastic surgery can look forward to gaining self-confidence and a sense of well-being from looking, feeling and functioning at their best. Every effort is made to ensure that all patients make well-informed choices and achieve the best results possible within a safe, comfortable, and confidential setting. Consultations for cosmetic procedures are always free and my schedule is flexible. Our office locations (Rockville MD, McLean VA, and Annapolis MD) are convenient to those in the DC Metro area. I frequently care for out of town and overseas visitors as well. The office is accustomed to this process and I would encourage you to discuss your travel plans with my assistant, who will facilitate the process to the best of our ability.
My repertoire of both surgical and non-surgical cosmetic procedures includes: breast augmentation (silicone and saline), breast lift, breast reduction, abdominoplasty (tummy tuck), liposuction, thigh and arm lifts, buttock lift (Brazilian butt lift), labiaplasty, fat grafting, blepharoplasty (cosmetic eyelid surgery), rhinoplasty (cosmetic nose surgery), otoplasty (cosmetic surgery of the ear), face lift, hair transplantation (including FUE procedures and robotic procedures- ARTAS), botulinum toxins including BOTOX®, XEOMIN, injectable fillers including Juvederm, Perlane, Restylane®, and Radiesse, chemical peels, and a variety of laser procedures. Body sculpting for those who have achieved a large weight loss whether by surgical or natural means is also frequently performed.
“Selecting the right plastic surgeon can be a stressful and difficult endeavor for anyone. Starting with a surgeon certified by The American Board of Plastic Surgery is an excellent start. A few of my personal philosophy points might be of some help. First, I strongly encourage anyone considering a cosmetic surgical procedure to become educated on basic aspects of the surgery. With the advent of the Internet, information (and misinformation) is plentiful. Talk to your friends. Get as much information as you can. Write down your questions/concerns and bring the list to your free consultation. I will spend as much time as I need to help you decide if surgery is right for you.
Second, all men and women are not created equally. Not everyone has the same 'ideal' of what is beautiful. Surgical goals can vary widely from person to person for the same procedure. A certain surgery may be perfect for one person but completely wrong for another. I will listen to your thoughts and I will do my best to help you achieve your goals so long as we can do so safely.
Finally, if you go with your gut instinct, you will be right more often than not. I don't mind being one of many doctors visited during the information-gathering stages, even if you ultimately decide to have someone else do your surgery. You need to feel comfortable with your surgeon. If your plastic surgeon reminds you more of a salesperson than a medical professional, I would advise you to keep looking."
