Brazilian Butt Lift Q & A

What is a Brazilian butt lift?

A Brazillian butt lift is a surgical fat transfer procedure that delivers a more voluptuous buttocks shape while removing a portion of fat cells from another area of your body.

What aesthetic improvements can a Brazillian butt lift deliver?

When considering any cosmetic procedure, it’s important to clearly define your goals and understand the advantages and limitations of various surgical procedures. Some of the results made possible by a Brazillian butt lift, or BBL, include:

  • Curvier lower body
  • More streamlined hips, belly, and thighs
  • More youthful, attractive buttocks shape
  • Enhanced proportion between upper and lower body
  • Better clothing fit
  • Improved body confidence

When considering plastic surgery, the most important focus is on whether the procedure will help you feel better about your appearance and enjoy enhanced self-esteem.

What happens during a Brazillian butt lift?

There are three basic components of a Brazillian butt lift. You’ll receive anesthesia before the process begins, with options ranging from general anesthesia to intravenous sedation combined with local anesthesia.

To begin, Dr. Watkins removes a portion of fat from your thighs, abdomen, lower back, hips, or other areas. You’ll discuss which areas could benefit from fat reduction during your consultation. The targeted fat cells are removed with liposuction, a procedure that suctions fat cells through a thin surgical tube.

Next, the fat is purified and processed in preparation for the transfer portion of your procedure. Once the fat is isolated from other tissue types, Dr. Watkins injects those fat cells into multiple areas of your buttocks where additional volume is desired.

A portion of those transferred fat cells don’t survive the transplant, but many adapt to the new location and function in the same manner as any other fat cells throughout your body. Dr. Watkins has the skill and experience to know exactly how much fat to transfer to give you the desired results, even accounting for the percentage of cells that won’t survive.
